‘Farmer White’ Somerset Cricket Writing

This site was set up as a home for the collected cricket writing of ‘Farmer White’. ‘Farmer White’ has posted match reports and occasionally articles or poems on various discussion threads on the independent Somerset cricket website grockles.com since September 2016.

The site currently contains match reports on virtually all Somerset CCC 1st XI matches played in 2019. It also contains reports on many County Championship and T20 matches from the 2018 season.

The aim eventually is to add match reports for every 1st XI match played in 2018 and the majority of matches played in 2017. Further work on this is expected to commence during the first quarter of 2020.

From time to time, during the winter months articles about Somerset cricket or Somerset cricket poems are added to the site.

Links to all match reports, articles and poems posted prior to the start of the 2019 season can be found on the Contents page via this link: Contents  2019 season links will be entered onto the ‘Contents’ page during the winter of 2019/20. The most recent items to appear on the site can be found at the top of the Home page by clicking on ‘HOME’ at the top of this page.

Farmer White’

‘Farmer White’ is a lifelong Somerset supporter who sits in the stands with everyone else at matches. He goes to the cricket armed with a white Somerset wyvern hat, Somerset umbrella (as required), notebook, pencil and a flask. He makes notes of the day’s play and converts his notes and memories of the day into atmospheric match reports. He posts these, in the midst of all the other posts, on the relevant match thread on grockles.com. All future match reports will also appear on this site.

Photographs

The site also includes some photographs of the many by Michael Williams which have appeared on grockles.com in the same threads as the ‘Farmer White’ match reports. Mike’s ready agreement and assistance in providing his photographs to this site is greatly appreciated and my thanks to him, expressed elsewhere, are heartfelt.
